2020 has proven to be a year full of challenges for the whole world. For many these challenges have been related to COVID-19. Let's hope that in 2021 the situation will finally improve.
For Asomdwee Fie - Peace Home, luckily, it has merely slowed some things down but not stagnated the project.
The challenges the project faces on it's own are plenty as is and we are grateful to have been able to pursue the vision in 2020 none the less. Succeeding despite setbacks makes the NGO that much stronger if anything.
Now that we will be leaving 2020 behind us soon, it's time to pursue the goals set for 2021. The great news is that right now, we are officially preparing for the start of the building proces in Januari 2021. By the building process, we mean of the day-centre.
If you forgot or missed our previous post, here's an idea of what it will look like:
And yes, it's going to be big. Taking up almost half of the land, it will include a big physical therapy/exercise room, two class/workshop rooms and an office. A big veranda will surround the building which can also be used for varying activities.
We have already started clearing the top part of the land where the day-centre will be built. We have had to cut down some of the palm trees there. On the land, we try to move as many trees/plants as possible instead of cutting them down but sadly there is no space for these trees.
On the bright side, we can now make our own palm wine.
By the end of this month the whole Asomdwee Fie - Peace home team will be reunited in Ghana.
The daily activities of the project are going on as always and the members of the project are doing well. We are very excited to keep moving forward so that in the near future, we will achieve our vision of being able to offer these youth's a place where they can develop themselves mentally and physically.

2020 is een uitdagend jaar geweest voor de hele wereld. Voor vele heeft dit te maken gehad met COVID-19. Laten we hopen dat de situatie in 2021 eindelijk gaat verbeteren.
Gelukkig heeft Asomdwee Fie - Peace Home vooruitgang kunnen blijven boeken in 2020. COVID-19 heeft hier en daar slechts voor een beetje vertraging gezorgd.
Het project heeft met genoeg uitdagingen te maken die ons dankbaar maken dat we in 2020 onze visie hebben kunnen blijven nastreven. Het overwinnen van uitdagingen maakt de NGO des te sterker.
Gezien we binnenkort 2020 achter ons laten, is het tijd om ons te richten op de doelen in 2021.
Het goede nieuws is dat we op het moment officieel bezig zijn met de voorbereidingen voor het bouwproces in Januari 2021. Hiermee bedoelen we het bouwproces van het dagcentrum.
Als je bent vergeten hoe dat er ongeveer uit gaat zien of je hebt onze voorgaande post gemist:
Ja, het wordt groot. Het zal bijna de helft van het land betreffen en bestaan uit een grote fysiotherapie/lichaamsbewegings-ruimte, twee klaslokalen/workshop ruimtes en een kantoor.
Een grote veranda zal het omringen die ook voor verschillende activiteiten kan worden gebruikt.
We zijn inmiddels al begonnen met het ruimen van de bovenste helft van het land, waar het dagcentrum gebouwd gaat worden. We hebben een aantal palmbomen moeten kappen. We proberen op het land zo veel mogelijk boven en planten te verplaatsen om kappen te voorkomen, maar er was voor deze bomen helaas geen plek meer.
Nu kunnen we wel palmwijn maken!
Aan het einde van deze maand zal het gehele Asomdwee Fie - Peace Home team weer herrenigd zijn in Ghana. De dagelijkse activiteiten gaan nog altijd door en de leden van het project maken het goed.
We zijn gemotiveerd om vooruit de blijven streven naar de visie de jongeren met een beperking een plek te geven om zich te kunnen ontwikkelen.
